Boasting with history, vibrant neighborhoods, scenic mountain hikes, and miles of beautiful beaches, Cape Town is known for being the adventure capital of South Africa.
If you’re heading to Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula, be warned that your eyes are about to fall in love! Beaches as far as the eye can see are surrounded by the gorgeous Cape Fold Mountains. It is no wonder why this region inspired one of ONDA’s latest towels, the Cape Town.
Visitors from all over the world love to travel to Cape Town for the views, but one of the biggest reasons people love this area is the chance to see the amazing Great White Shark!
Cape Town is well known for having an abundant number of Great White Sharks. On average 5-20 of these creatures could be seen daily in nearby waters. However, over the past 5 years or so, the number of great white sharks in the waters of Cape Town has been significantly declining.
Nowadays, if you’re lucky, you may see 20 within a year’s time. Humans have long feared the Great White Shark, that fear, as well as the demand for shark as a food source and the increasing climate concerns, has caused a dangerous decline in Cape Town’s Great White population. Eliminating this apex predator at the top of the food chain will cause a devastating ripple effect over time.
The decline of the Great White Shark and the beautiful city of Cape Town has been our inspiration for The Cape Town ONDA towel.
The playful shark design and brightly colored block pattern are meant to transport you to this inspiring region. Like all ONDA towels, it is made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastics as we work to make a small change for good.
Hopefully, it inspires you to pursue adventure and awareness of a key area where sharks are being depleted.
